Biography
With a sound that seems to cover several styles between The Corrs to Wilson Philips and a dozen girl bands, Boardman are one of the best harmony pop groups ever to emerge from regional Australia.
Michelle, Linda and Karen were born into music. Their parents are musical, their grandparents on both side were all musical. In fact all three girls learnt to sing before they could talk! All fully trained and accomplished pianists, with a gift for independent song writing apart and wonderful lush harmonies when together.
Originally from Wollongong, the girls moved to southern NSW in the 1980s. Michelle had already been a keyboardist and back up singer in a rock band at 13 years. She sold her acoustic piano, invested in a PA and keyboard and got a gig at the local hotel. Second sister Linda, who has a passion for harmonies, joined big sister in this new adventure after two hours notice. The younger Karen is a prolific songwriter and with Linda provide the rich harmonies that distinguish this group from other would be female performers.
With a lively stage act and a suite of original songs, Boardman have played at numerous venues ranging from the opening of the $100 million Visy pulp factory at Tumut to the National Gospel Happening Festival in Canberra. Michelle is also active a solo artist across the Riverina and other regions.
Titled 'The Boardman Sisters', their debut CD represents a watershed in quality recording in their genre. Production is full bodied with strong tunes representative of the varied styles this trio obviously make their own.
